Seattle Kraken hire first woman Assistant Coach in NHL Histroy

The Seattle Kraken have made NHL history today by hiring Jessica Campbell as the league's first woman Assistant Coach.

The @SeattleKraken have added Jessica Campbell as an assistant coach, making her the first woman to be named an assistant, associate or head coach in NHL history.


Along with her hiring, coach Bob Woods will also also be joining the coaching staff on Dan Bylsma. The rest of the stuff consists of assistant Dave Lowry, goaltending coach Steve Briere, video coach Tim Ohashi and video assistant Brady Morgan.

"With the hiring, Campbell becomes the first full-time female assistant coach in NHL history to work behind the bench during the regular season," Kraken said in a news release.

«This is an important day for our organization,» said Kraken general manager Ron Francis. «We're bringing in valuable coaching experience to our staff and are confident that both Bob and Jessica will make an immediate impact for our team.»


For the last 2 season, Campbell has been the Assistant Coach of the Seattle Kraken's AHL Affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The NHL is very excited to see her in action behind the bench!
