The NHL witnessed a startling development on Wednesday afternoon as the Chicago Blackhawks exercised their waiver rights.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet broke the major news, announcing that the Blackhawks acquired 31-year-old defenseman Jaycob Megna from the Seattle Kraken.
Friedman concisely reported,
"Blackhawks claim Megna from Seattle."
During the 2023-24 season, Megna has had minimal playtime, appearing in only two matches with Seattle's AHL team, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. In these limited appearances, he scored a goal and achieved a plus-three rating.
