In the latest updates, NHL Player Safety has handed a one-game suspension to Erik Gudbranson, a defenseman for the Columbus Blue Jackets, due to his engagement in an "altercation" with Nick Cousins, a forward from the Florida Panthers.

The event, documented in the reviewed play, involved Gudbranson tackling Cousins and administering several punches, despite attempts by officials to step in. This response followed Cousins' earlier dangerous hit from behind during the game, for which he received only a two-minute minor penalty.

The league's decision to impose a one-game suspension on Gudbranson underscores its position regarding on-ice altercations, even in situations perceived as acts of retaliation

The renowned player agent Allan Walsh made several statements on Twitter, mocking the Department of Player Safety.
