The choice of P.K. Subban as an analyst has often been met with skepticism, especially as the trend in hockey media shifts from well-informed, league-wide analysts to more boisterous figures. His recent remarks about the Oilers drew considerable criticism, and rightly so, as it appears he doesn't regularly follow Oilers games, yet speaks as if he's well-versed in their dynamics. In response to the growing criticism, he recently took to Twitter to reinforce his initial statements.

"I actually love watching Edmonton play! they are just too easy to play against in their own zone. Too much emphasis on McDavid, Leon etc and the superhero offense to always get it done. You need to win tight games with your defense. You saw what happened last year with Vegasyes Jack Eichel is a stud and ex factor, but Defensive structure, goaltending and being hard to play against won them a cup. Not just talent and skill. 🤷🏿‍♂️ but hey anything can happen."

It's evident that Subban hasn't been keeping up with the Oilers' recent games, especially given their impressive 12-game winning streak where they've managed to keep their goals against average to just 1.75 per game, a league best for that period. This starkly contrasts with their earlier struggles and highlights a significant enhancement in their defensive play.

Looking at the entire season, the Oilers are positioned 12th in the league with an average of 2.95 goals against per game, a commendable feat for a team previously critiqued for their performance in 5v5 play. They've shown remarkable progress recently. Despite P.K.'s assertion that a strong defensive structure and excellent goaltending are key to winning championships, it appears he's overlooked the Oilers' recent achievements in these areas. Under Kris Knoblauch's leadership, their defense has been formidable, and Stuart Skinner has emerged as one of the league's top goaltenders during this period.

Given these facts, Subban's lack of awareness about the Oilers' current form is quite glaring, and as an analyst, his inaccurate assessments are rather embarrassing.
