The probe into Adam Johnson's case encounters an unexpected twist with coroner Tanyka Rawden declaring a provisional suspension until July.

The pause in Rawden's proceedings is a response to the active investigation by South Yorkshire Police, which included an arrest in November. Should the police wrap up their investigation without filing any charges by July, Rawden intends to recommence her inquiry.
Johnson, who played for the Nottingham Panthers, met with a tragic end on October 28, 2023, due to an accident involving a skate.
Following the incident, there has been a push for changes in regulations. As a direct consequence, USA Hockey has implemented a new rule requiring neck guards for players under 18, a move aimed at preventing similar tragedies.
Adam Johnson, born on June 22, 1994, had a brief but notable career in the NHL. He played a total of 13 games in the league, all with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons. In these appearances, Johnson scored one goal and assisted on three others, accumulating four points. His career also included time in other leagues, such as the American Hockey League (AHL), the United States Hockey League (USHL), and various European leagues.
