Tampa Bay has traded for their former defenseman Ryan McDonagh and a fourth round pick from Nashville in exchange for a 2nd rounder pick in 2025 and a 7th rounder in 2025.
McDonagh spent multiple season in Tampa in which he won 2 Stanley Cups and is now returning there after he has waived his no-trade clause to finish out the last 2 years of his contract.
Since McDonagh's $6.25 million cap hit is now on the books for the Lightning for next season this means that the likelihood of Stamkos returning has no diminished even more.
