Hockey doesn't always make it to mainstream media, but there is one movie that stands above all and has become a cult classic since it was made in 1977: Slapshot. Ask any hockey fan and they love it, if not their favorite, definitely in the top 5 sports movies.
It was announced on Tuesday by Steve Carlson (the actor who played Steve Carlton in the Legendary Movie Slapshot) that his fellow Slapshot actor Paul D'Amato has passed away. D'Amato played the evil Tim Dr Hook McCracken in the movie.
"RIP Paul D'Amato
Sending heartfelt condolences to Family and fellow friends, actors."
According to Daily Faceoff, D'Amato passed away Monday after a four-year battle with a rare brain disease.
While Slapshot is one of D'Amato's most well-known movies, he has also played roles in others such as Deer Hunter and the Deadliest Season (Another Hockey Movie).
Our sincere condolences to his friends and family during this time!
