Oilers defenseman has officially retired

Former Oilers defenseman Oscar Klefbom has officially retired from the NHL after 7 seasons.

Klefbom announced his retirement at 31 years old but has not played in the NHL since 2021 due to a shoulder injury.

The 31 year old defenseman was drafted by the Oilers 19th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft during years where it seemed like the Oilers always had a top 5 pick.

Despite playing with some great players such as Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Connor McDavid, Klefbom was never able to be part of a Stanley Cup Winning team in Edmonton.
