Without a pick in the first round of the 2022 draft, Boston's initial selection was at the 54th overall. In the second round, the Bruins would end up choosing forward Matthew Poitras.
After completing a full regular season since being drafted, Poitras increasingly seems like a fantastic find for Sweeney at where they took him.
The 19-year-old finished with 16 goals and 79 assists playing for the Guelph Storm, while ranking second in assists and sixth in points among OHL leaders.
In the first three playoff games against the Sarnia Sting, Poitras has led his team with one goal and three assists. However, they are currently down 3-0 in the best-of-seven series.
