Even though the defeat to Nashville holds no consequence for Boston, assistant captain Brad Marchand delivered a powerful message to the entire team after the game.

The only achievement the Bruins could have secured last night was the Presidents' Trophy since the Hurricanes suffered a 4-0 loss to the Lightning.

Marchand Says Team "Disrespected the Game"

Despite the narrow 2-1 loss and the Bruins outperforming the Predators with 36 to 23 shots, Marchand expressed dissatisfaction with both himself and the team. The veteran player claimed they "disrespected the game" during the loss.

The Bruins have nothing to lose or gain as the season progresses, but they faced a Nashville team still vying for a spot in the Western Conference Wild Card.

Marchand also mentioned that he appreciates how the team comes together for games like the back-to-back victories this weekend against the Lightning and Hurricanes. It's also important to remember that the NHL boasts perhaps the most parity among all major sports leagues.

Head coach Jim Montgomery and captain Patrice Bergeron shared similar sentiments, both alluding to the lack of "respect for their opponent" on Tuesday night. Watch their reactions and more in the video below:
