First let's look at the numbers. Jeremy Swayman has the second best save percentage in the league at .928, and third best goals against average at 2.22. Ullmark is 11th in save percentage at .916 and 23rd in goals against average at 2.82. They have very similar point earned for their team with Swayman's record at 11-2-4 and Ullmark at 11-5-2, with Swayman having the slight edge her as well. Swayman has two shutouts on the year, with Ullmark having none. Has Swayman played his way into earning the permanent starting role and made Ullmark trade bait for the deadline?
Another interesting thing to note is that Ullmark did not make the list of untradeable players released by Don Sweeny. Most of this list was composed of younger players, Swayman was on it. Some would think there is no need, clearly a playoff team is not going to trade their number one goalie coming into the season, who has an 11-5-2 record and helped the Bruins get to the top of the standings? It sounds crazy, but the play of Jeremy Swayman has made it sounds a little more manageable. The Bruins have needs, they need more scoring. The secondary scoring has returned these past three games, but what happens when Jake Debrusk goes on another cold streak? Ullmark could bring you a serious return to a team in desperate need of a goalie (Hello Toronto and Wild), if nothing else could help you replenish some draft picks the Bruins have given away. Could the impossible happen in Boston? Stay Tuned!
