The Hit currently heard around the NHL was Montreal Canadians Brendan Gallagher's hit on New York Islanders Adan Pelech. Brendan Gallagher has come under plenty of scrutiny over this and it was well deserved.
One Bruins Report completely puts Gallagher on Blast:
"Complete lack of respect for the game here by Gallagher, and yet the @NHLPA will defend him, not the victim, and never speak out against these hits."
The NHL Player Department of player safety has also come under scrutiny for this because Gallagher is only receiving a five-game suspension for such a malicious, dirty hit to the head of a defenseless player.
This commentary shows the growing frustration with player conduct and player safter around the league. Many believe harsher penalties needs to be handed down to these offenders.
