From injuries to a Christmas time slump to contract disputes, the Bruins have overcome plenty to get to where they are. One contract dispute still lingers.
Jake DeBrusk wants an extension. In an interview with Boston Hockey Now, DeBrusk stated his desire to stay with the Bruins, citing his want to win a Stanley Cup with the team.
The Bruins, however, have not had many productive extensions talks with DeBrusk and it looks like the two sides could be on the verge of a separation soon.
NHL Insider Pierre McGuire has warned of teams from up North racing in for DeBrusk. Calgary and Edmonton would be in front of the line for DeBrusk's services. Edmonton makes a ton of sense, and he would add to their already potent offense, for a team that has been among the hottest in the league the last month. We could be seeing the last few months of DeBrusk tenure in Boston.
