Although the season didn't end as hoped, Dmitry Orlov's arrival proved to be a significant boost for the Bruins. Now, as an impending free agent, he shares his thoughts on the challenging offseason ahead.

Despite Tyler Bertuzzi's impressive playoff performance, Orlov arguably remains Boston's most valuable trade deadline acquisition this season.

The defenseman contributed 8 assists against the Panthers in the first round and tied for second place in playoff points on the team.

A Return to Washington?

Orlov was acquired from the Capitals, along with Garnet Hathaway, at the March 3rd trade deadline. He recently hinted at the possibility of returning to Washington this summer:

''Right now, it's dark. What I'm going to do, I don't know. I still don't know what my plan is. If I fly back to Washington or stay here. It's a lot of things. Obviously, I'm going to have to make a decision. Where I'm going to be, and I need to talk to my family. Figure out from there.''

The 31-year-old defenseman is reportedly seeking a four or five-year contract.

With this likely being his last opportunity to secure a substantial deal, as he alluded to, the Russian may aim for something around his current $5.1 million AAV.

However, Orlov remains unsure about a reunion with his former team:

''We'll see. It's tough. Probably, yeah. They're going to talk to my agent. How I see it, if they trade me, I don't think it's going to work out. But we'll see.''
