The hard-fought victory against Germany to conclude the preliminary round proved to be more than just a stumble for Team Canada, rather a foreboding sign.

After rallying back from a two-goal deficit following the first period, the reigning double champions of the World Juniors were dealt a crushing blow with just 11 seconds remaining in their quarter-final showdown against the Czech Republic. They fell 3-2, experiencing an early exit in Sweden. Canada gets eliminated in the quarter-finals.

The Canadians dominated the entire game throughout the last 40 minutes, and goals from Matthew Wood and Jake Furlong had brought the game to a tie. However, in the final minute of regulation time, a shot by Jakub Stancl deflected off defenseman Oliver Bonk's stick, beating Mathis Rousseau.

Poitras will most likely make his return with the Bruins in the coming days. His performance in the tournament has had its ups and downs. The future will tell us if the experience has been beneficial for the Bruins rookie.
