Brad Marchand recently joined the chorus of admiration for Zdeno Chara, who completed the Boston Marathon, and he did with his humor.
A Remarkable Feat
Marchand expressed genuine happiness for Big Zee, who captained the Bruins during the first 11 years of his career.
''That guy's an animal. I texted him right before the race and it's impressive. Just how dedicated he is to everything. He does not surprise me. I was surprised he didn't win the race, to be honest with you. But he's incredible, he's just such a specimen. It's a lot of fun to see. He popped in the room here [Tuesday] and I was really happy for him.''
Chara managed to finish the gruelling 26.2-mile marathon in a remarkable 3:38:23, although he was far behind the winner, Evans Chebet of Kenya, who crossed the finish line at 2:05:54.
Marchand, however, had a hilarious take on how Chara would have celebrated if he'd emerged victorious. According to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski:
''I was surprised he didn't win the race, to be honest with you.''
‘'That he didn't throw people into the crowd and go for the win.''
