Patrice Bergeron experienced an injury scare during the final regular-season game on Thursday night, and his close friend Brad Marchand chimed in with an update on the Bruins captain.

Is There Cause for Concern?

The Bruins held an optional skate this morning, and for the second day in a row, Bergeron was not present. Following practice, General Manager Don Sweeney addressed the media to talk about the veteran's prospects for Game 1.

''Taking an extra day again today. That's to be decided tomorrow if he feels well enough, he'll play...Patrice doesn't need extra days of practice. If he feels better, he'll play.''

Sweeney also mentioned that Bergeron is dealing with an illness in addition to a lingering injury.

Nevertheless, Scott McLaughlin of WEEI reported that Marchand, who probably knows Bergeron better than anyone else, isn't overly concerned about his friend's ability to play in tomorrow's game.

If there's one thing the seasoned veteran has demonstrated throughout his 19-year career, it's his determination to play unless physically impossible, especially during the playoffs.
