The Bruins missed an excellent chance to seal their series against the Panthers on home ice, and the manner in which they lost was particularly disappointing.

In game five, Matthew Tkachuk (of course) scored the decisive overtime goal, thanks to an inadvertent assist from goaltender Linus Ullmark.

Another Perspective

Boston's own Matthew Grzelcyk, the defenseman involved in the turnover that directly led to Florida's winning goal, recently offered his perspective on the play.

''That was a little bit of a different situation.''

''It was kind of a foot race with [Carter] Verhaeghe there. He kind of had a step. Just wanted to maybe cut him off in case he got to the puck first. They had a guy on the other wall as well. So, it was a tough play all around, and like I said, they made a really good play to stick it down and throw it to the net there.''

Turnovers have emerged as a recurring issue for the Bruins in the 2023 postseason. Grzelcyk acknowledged that the Panthers' players involved in the play also deserve credit for their effective response. But persistent giveaways will continue to hinder Boston's progress in the playoffs. First and foremost, they need to focus on wrapping up this series!
