Good news is in store for the Bruins with defenseman Derek Forbort making progress in his recovery from a lower-body injury. The left-handed defenseman resumed practicing on Thursday (Jan. 4), indicating a major advancement in his healing process.

Coach Montgomery gave an encouraging report on Forbort's likely comeback to playing, noting,

"Week to week, starting (Thursday) as he ramps up and progresses. I'll have more news, but it's a good sign that he's finally on the ice."

Forbort, who is 31 years old, last played on December 3 in a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, after which he was placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR). In the 20 games he's played this season, he's managed to tally four assists and has an impressive plus-9 rating.

Placing the key details of Forbort's comeback and the hopeful indicators of his return to the ice towards the end builds suspense and highlights the favorable progress for the team.
