New Defenseman on Bruins Radar for Trade Deadline Deal
The Boston Bruins are in a perfect position right now. They sit atop the NHL standings along with the Vancouver Canucks.
However, the Canucks went out and added Elias Lindholm, regarded as the number one trade deadline acquisition. The Bruins feel like they need to answer and continue to improve their roster.
The Glaring needs for the Bruins is defense, to take pressure off Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy. They could also use some more secondary scoring after their star players.
The Minnesota Wild are certainly going to be sellers at the deadline. They could be looking to move defenseman Zach Bogosian. Bogosian would bring physicality to any team's back end and play third pair minutes or even be considered a great 7th defenseman option for teams.
The Bruins would certainly use him more than a 7th defenseman. He comes with a minimal cap hit, which the Bruins could easily work with and would cost minimal assets which fits perfectly within the Bruins situation.
As a reminder, the Bruins don't hold draft picks in the first three rounds this year, and do not want to use their first rounder next year unless it brings back a significant return.
The trade deadline is coming, but the big trades have already started. Look for the Bruins to make a splash to improve a roster that already sits at the top of the league!
