Born in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Bergeron grew up as a Nordiques fan, but his name has consistently been associated with Montreal.
Yvon Pedneault, a French journalist from Le Journal de Montreal, is the latest to make this connection, putting forth a fascinating idea about the Canadiens and the Bruins' captain.
According to Pedneault (translated from French):
Bergeron has yet to decide on his future, and fans may have to wait until August, just like last year, for an answer. However, it seems like Boston's core group-including David Krejci and Brad Marchand-still has unfinished business after their recent playoff run.
The 37-year-old was recently nominated as a finalist for the Selke Trophy for an unprecedented 12th year in a row. In his 19th NHL season, Bergeron scored 27 goals and had 31 assists, with a +35 rating in 78 games.
Should he choose to retire, Pedneault also made a valid point that Bergeron would be an excellent addition to any team's front office.
However, despite his Quebec roots, it's hard to imagine Bergeron leaving the Bruins organization-even if he opts for a coaching or management position.
