The Boston Bruins are in the middle of a nine-game point streak. They are playing some of their best hockey of the year. They have bounced back from a late December Holiday Skid better than anyone could have imagined. They have built a seven-point lead over the Florida Panthers for first in the Division and are only a point away from being best club in the League.
All of that, and the Bruins still need to continue to get better and add at the trade deadline. Other teams, potential threats for the top spot will undoubtedly be looking to improve their clubs. The Bruins have been linked to offense since the start of the season. One intriguing player that has become more available is Trevor Zegras of the Anaheim Ducks.
Since the Cutter Gautier trade that rocked the NHL between the Ducks and Flyers a few weeks back, rumors have run wild that Zegras could be now expendable and on his way out of Anaheim. Shayna Goldman of The Athletic names the Bruins as one of the top places he could end up.
Zegras is playing on a very bad Ducks team and is due to be out 6-8 weeks with ankle surgery, but he is a talented young top 6 forward who just last year scored 65 points for another bad Ducks team. The injury might be just what the Bruins need to keep the cost of Zegras down and save on their already limited assets. The Bruins are a team to watch at the trade deadline and will most certainly be linked to every forward available.
