The Boston Bruins have at last gotten a decision about their leading defensive prospect, who will be officially turning professional after signing an amateur contract.
According to Bruins PR:
Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, March 31, that the Providence Bruins have signed defenseman Mason Lohrei to an AHL amateur tryout agreement (ATO).
Lohrei is set to join a solid Providence Bruins squad with eight games left in the regular season. The team currently occupies the top spot in the Eastern Conference, boasting a 40-14-8 record.
This season, the 22-year-old led all defensemen at Ohio State University with four goals and 28 assists in 40 games. The 6-foot-4, 204-pound defender also notched four goals and 25 assists in 31 games during his rookie year.
The native of Verona, Wisconsin, was initially picked in the second round (58th overall) by the Bruins in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
***Lohrei cannot join Boston without signing his Entry Level Contract first.
