In Monday night's game, Bertuzzi made his first-ever postseason appearance in his seven-year career and certainly left a mark. The 28-year-old finished his NHL playoff debut with two assists, three shots, two hits, and two blocks.
What might prove to be even more beneficial for the Bruins as this series progresses is Bertuzzi's ability to be a constant nuisance for the Panthers - a playing style that has endeared him to Boston fans.
It shouldn't come as a shock, though, as Bertuzzi's last playoff stint saw him leading the Grand Rapids Griffins to a Calder Cup Championship in the AHL. Earning the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the postseason MVP, he notched 19 points in 19 games.
Both head coach Jim Montgomery and teammate Brad Marchand had high praise for Bertuzzi after Monday night's game.
However, Bertuzzi humbly attributed his stellar performance to the passionate Bruins fans present during Game 1, saying it felt like his team debut all over again. Catch his postgame interview here:
