Since the season's onset, the Calgary Flames have been at the center of speculation, involving Tanev, offensive enhancements, or players' reluctance to play there. Yet, another rumor is gaining momentum. Sportsnet's Eric Francis reports that the Flames have issued an ultimatum to defender Noah Hanifin, demanding a decision on whether he will commit to a long-term extension with the team.

"It's a huge decision obviously it's going to be coming to a head sooner rather than later." - Noah Hanifin on whether he'll sign an 8-year extension with the Flames or test free agency and be subjected to an imminent trade.

Hanifin's response appears quite indecisive. If I were with the Calgary organization and caught wind of this, I'd begin strategizing for the team's future sans Hanifin, potentially exploring trade options.

At 27, Hanifin has participated in 51 games for the Flames this season, accumulating 28 points through 9 goals and 19 assists. He seems likely to command a substantial return as a rental player.

It's uncertain if he will be traded, but the Flames must avoid losing him without compensation come summer.

The Bruins have expressed a desire to boost their offensive capabilities before the trade deadline, aiming to enhance their playoff prospects. Hanifin would add a mix of offensive and defensive prowess to their lineup.
