A massive falling-out between Montgomery and Sweeney has just surfaced
A massive disagreement has just come to the surface between the Boston Bruins Management and Head Coach Jim Montgomery.
There is a lot of pressure this time of the year in preparation for Free Agency on July 1st. The Bruins currently have 9 free agents they are gunning for with just over $21 million dollars in cap space.
With Linus Ullmark leaving fairly soon with almost 100% certainty, the biggest question mark in the organization is 27-year-old forward Jake DeBrusk.
The Bruins Head Coach has stated that he is a big fan of Jake DeBrusk's game and that a re-signing should be the move right now as he is entering his prime as an NHL player.
Montgomery continued: «One thing you notice, that I really noticed is that every time I talked to him one-on-one, he was very honest about where he thought his play was. We talked a lot about consistency when Jake was on top of his game. Jake was a game breaker for us. He's someone that could change the momentum of a game in one or two shifts because of his tenacity, speed and skill.»
The Issue is that Boston's GM Don Sweeney doesn't believe that DeBrusk is worth what he is asking for. Sweeny's number is just too far from DeBrusk's number and it will make it a difficult task to keep him in Black and Gold.
It is clear that Montgomery and Sweeney have different approaches when it comes to re-signing the forward, and it's causing some dissention.
