Reports announced that Merkulov spent the summer in Colorado training with Matvei Michkov, and fans should expect him to make a big push in camp for a roster spot.

Merkulov has had two solid seasons in Providence putting up almost a point per game in both. As a budding centre and not a lot of roster spots available, the Bruins may elect to go with Fibian Lysell instead who plays on the wing.
