Boston Bruins at risk to losing Goergii Merkulov to the KHL
With camp just around the corner, one of the biggest question marks is if top prospect Georgii Merkulov can make the team out right away. If not, the Bruins could be at risk of losing him in order to return to play in Russia.
The 'Bruins Benders Podcast' initiated the idea and it has many talking. Merkulov has done all he can to rove himself in the AHL with the Providence Bruins. He has played an amazing offensive game racking up 55 goals and 70 assists for 125 points in 134 games across 2.5 seasons.
The podcast discussed that there is a very real possibility that he can be growing frustrated with his role in the organization and if he doesn't' make the team he could be headed back to russia.
Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery commented on Merkulov's chances on making the team this year and states he needs to prove he can play a team game.
