The Bruins have had a fairly busy and successful offseason, they managed to sign big names in Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov, but also saw some fan favorites go such as Linus Ullmark and Jake DeBrusk. Although successful, the main issue has loomed over the organization all offseason, how is GM Don Sweeney and the B's going to lock up Jeremy Swayman when they are so far apart on AAV and term?
A new development has just surfaced which could solve many of the issues both parties are facing. Boston Globe writer and journalist Kevin Paul suggested that due to the lack of agreement on what both sides want, a shorter term bridge deal could answer all of the B's concerns with giving Swayman a huge contract.
Risk has always been the main concern for the Bruins, and by offering a 2-3 year bridge deal, Swayman can prove to them that he can not only handle a full season workload, but can dominate as a bonified starter with out the safety net of a Vezina winning partner in front of him.
In conclusion, the Bruins are at risk of Swayman sitting out a large portion of the season if a he is not given a number close to what he is asking, and with the 2 parties so far apart, a bridge deal may be the only option.
