Former Boston Bruins Legend is set to have his Jersey number retired in the rafters by the San Jose Sharks this season.

On November 23rd, 2024, Joe Thornton will be invited back to the SAP Centre when the Sharks take on the Buffalo Sabres, the team will put on a big ceremony to forever honor the career of Jumbo Joe.

#SJSharks will host Joe Thornton's No. 19 Retirement Night on Nov. 23 against the Buffalo Sabres


He will be the just the 2nd player in Sharks Franchise history to have his number hung in the rafters, his jersey will be right beside longtime friend and teammate Patrick Marleau.

«It has been an honor and a privilege to play in the National Hockey League for 24 seasons,» said Thornton. «But when I came to San Jose, it felt like I was truly home. I fell in love with the area and the people, and I had the best years of my career wearing the Sharks crest. I want to thank Hasso Plattner, the Sharks organization, my teammates, our fans and especially my family for all their support over my career. I am humbled by this recognition, which is a reflection of all of those great teams we had in San Jose during my time there.»
