The main Boston Bruin's trade target was stolen today by the Pittsburgh Penguins after the were involved in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets to land top prospect Rutger McGroarty.

McGroarty has been the talk of the NHL all offseason as the Winnipeg Jets top 2022 draft pick decided he would not be signing his entry level contract with the organization.

Our Boston Bruins were one of the top teams linked to be in the conversation for landing the prospect but ultimately it all ended today when he was traded to the Pens.

McGroarty had an amazing year as a member of the University of Michigan Wolverines in 2023-24. The 6'0 forward recorded 16 goals and 36 assists for 52 points, and a plus-17 rating in only 36 games. These offensive numbers prove that the kid is no joke when it comes to his offensive production but additionally, he has been touted as an elite 2-way player which would have been amazing for the B's.

Are you disappointed that Rutger McGroarty will not be joining the Boston Bruins?
