Over the past several weeks, it has become clear that the Bruins will be seeking defensive help as the team is battling for 1st place in the Atlantic. The news was grim after learning that Bruins defenceman Hampus Lindholm went down to injury during the 4-3 overtime win vs the Dallas Stars.

Head coach Jim Montgomery mentioned after the game that Lindholm will be reevaluated to see what his status.

"I don't have anything concrete yet," he said. "We'll know more tomorrow."

With Lindholm's possible significant time missing, The Bruins may have received great news today in terms of Boston born Noah Hanafin who will head to market after weeks of speculation on his future and calling off an extension with the Flames.

Hanifan has deep roots with the Boston area as he was born and raised along with playing for Boston College. Holding a cap hit of 4.95 million this season and having a great year, Hanifan has expressed a desire to return to the United States to play out his career.

This could be what the Bruins are looking for.

I would expect GM Don Sweeney to pull another rabbit out of his hat and attempt to land Hanifan as other teams including the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking hard at the 27 year old.
