Bruins Head Coach Jim Montgomery commented yesterday on the NHL debut of Anthony Richard. He is excited for the speed and tenacity that Richards brings to the lineup.
Coach Montgomery on Anthony Richard making his #NHLBruins debut tomorrow vs. Washington: "Big chance, real good chance ... speed [is his big attribute]. We'd like to create more anxiety for other teams, and there's different ways to do that, speed is one of them."
Montgomery also went on to say that he's impressed with Richard's 5 shorthanded goals and anticipates the Bruins to slowly integrate him into their penalty kill. He has been impressive in Providence this year, but this is a game-by-game basis, if he plays well the Bruins will keep him up.
The comments reflect on the Bruins ongoing attempts to develop young players from within the organization, a philosophy that has benefitted them in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
