Former Bruins star and captain Zdeno Chara was recognized at this game with a Heroes Among Us award for spending several years doing community service in New England. The award was presented by the Celtics and is meant to encourage and motivate families in the Boston area.
The Celtics have been acknowledging home town heros since 1997 and continue to give this award out to candidates they deem worthy of the award during every NBA finals.
This gesture is a great way to celebrate Boston and have support from other teams across the world of sports in Boston's minor and major leagues.
Even though the Bruins were defeated during the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Celtics let them know that they have support from the NBA and they will continue to cheer them on. No doubt that the Bruins will return the favor by cheering the Celtics on as well.
Despite continued effort, the Mavericks were unable to catch up with their opponents and the Celtics went on to dominate the game and won 107-89 giving Zdeno Chara another reason to cheer them on and to celebrate. Congratulations on the win Celtics and congratulations on your award Chara. May you both continue to do well in your future endeavors.
