The Bruins have moved their focus of the trade deadline to defense. They need a big, solid defenseman to sure up a weak, undersized back end. They could also take pressure off Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy.
The Flame Chris Tanev is now the frontrunning target for the Bruins as of today. The big bodied defenseman is a shot blocking machine, which we are sure goalies Jeremy Swayman and Linus Ullmark will appreciate.
The 34-year-old this year only have one goal and 8 assist, and a +7 rating, but he also 135 blocked shots to be among the league leaders.
Flames fans are even clamoring for a Tanev trade because they know his value and what he could bring back in return. Tanev also kills penalties, further taking pressure off of our already taxed Bruins defensemen.
Over his four seasons in Calgary, Tanev has 10 goals, 62 total points, a +64 plus/minus rating, and 530 blocked shots across 249 games played.
