This is a major training camp for Lysell as he has spent that last 2 season in the AHL for the Providence Bruins where he has played well enough to get a look with the club. But it is one things to dominate in the minors and translate that that into the NHL.
One thing that that fans noticed, or I guess, didn't notice, was top prospect Fabian Lysell, who is looking to make a big impact at camp this year. It's not that he played bad per say, but was just quiet and didn't impress much. He got 14:56 of ice time and finished the game with zero shots on goal.
This is what Jim Montgomery had to say about his performance...
It is clear his biggest asset is his speed and elusive skating, but what works in the AHL might not work in the NHL. He was physically bested most of the game and was clocked for two big turnovers in the same shift that ultimately led to the Rangers game winning goal.
Obviously this is only the first game, as he will have many chances to go out there and impress, it is just not the start he or the Bruins wanted.
