It seems that Neely has two specific types of players he's looking for that he feels would help the team take the next step. During an interview with The Athletic Fluto Shinzawa, he laid out his plan for his team and hopes that general manager Don Sweeney can execute it.
The age-old adage in hockey is that you can never have enough defensemen. I would expect the Bruins to look at the defensive market and see if there is a stiff defenseman available that would fit the needs. Secondary scoring is also another need for any team including the Bruins as the main lines will begin checking the other teams lines and depth scoring is paramount.
The Bruins do not have the first three rounds of draft picks this season and they may need to look at roster players or prospects in Providence to help make a trade possible.
It remains to be seen on what the Bruins will do come March 8th, but with their recent history on the trade front I wouldn't be surprised that they managed to pull off another rabbit out of their hetmet.
