Alex Formenton, one of the 5 NHLers who were involved in the Team Canada Hockey scandal in 2018 has retired from hockey to pursue a career in construction.

NHL player Alex Formenton moved on' from hockey career amid Hockey Canada sexual assault case

The news broke yesterday that the 5 players involved in the assault case have been granted an exemption from the judge to skip the pre-trail hearings due to economic reasons. The fact that they are no longer allowed in the NHL means that most have to work and pursue another job to pay for the legal expenses, which is exactly what Formenton has done.

A judge granted permission for Alex Formenton and four other former NHLers-Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote-to miss these hearings due to «compelling economic reasons.»

Formenton now resides in Barrie, Ontario where he works a construction job amidst the charges. He was a 2nd-round pick to the Ottawa Senators in 2017 but was never able to solidify himself as a regular NHL player. In 109 games for the Senators, the forward scored a total of 23 goals and 16 assists for 39 points and achieved a +/- rating of -9.

Even though he is not required to attend the pre-trial hearings, he has made himself available if needed.
