The Bruins have lost 4 of 5 games and three straight following the all-star break. They have fallen out of first place in the Atlantic Division for the first time in months, as the Florida Panthers have won four straight and now have the same number of points as the Bruins, but more wins. They are six points behind the Vancouver Canucks for the best in the league, after being tied with them at the break. It seems the Bruins are spiraling. Their best player, David Pastrnak, commented on the team's performance:
Pastrnak knows the season is a marathon and not a sprint, and at the same time you only get so many games, they have not created the separation they wanted in the standings, and they have to make up for it in the coming games. With the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers both coming to town during this homestand, the Bruins need to find a way to turn it around if they don't want to fall farther in the standings.
