Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk had a tough season this year after hitting career highs last season.

He recently spoke to the media about the situation he is currently in, stating he did not think at the beginning of the year he would still be without an extension in the off-season. DeBrusk understands why he is in this position and says he still has hope to re-sign but is bracing for the worst.

«I see a path here. I think I've seen it all year,» DeBrusk said on Sunday. «I still have hope. If you told me at the beginning of the year I'd be here without a contract, I probably wouldn't believe you. But at the same time, I've always loved my time here and there's a lot of great memories.»

Clearly DeBrusk wants to stay in Boston but there is a good chance the Bruins will want to move on from the forward to see if they can find a better replacement. The 27 year-old winger has been solid for the Bruins over his career but has struggled with consistency.
