Yesterday it was announced that the Columbus Blue Jackets have places former Boston Bruin Brendan Gaunce on waivers, basically signaling an end to his NHL dreams.
After the announcement, Gaunce will clear waivers and return to the Columbus AHL affiliate, thee Cleveland Monsters.
The 39-year-old captained the Monsters before his stint in the NHL, where was used as a depth forward, but ultimately was a healthy scratch often.
A rare May waiver placement has passed through unclaimed.
After returning to the AHL in October, he saw action in 49 games and tallied 19 goals and 20 assists for 39 points.
In 24 games for the Blue Jackets, he posted a -7 +/- with 2 goals and 2 assists. Clearly not enough to solidify a spot on the roster and keep a job in the NHL.
