Friedman announces that Jeremy Swayman has been asking for similar contract to teammate

The Boston Bruins and goaltender Jeremy Swayman have been the talk of the town in Boston as they have yet to come to a contract agreement.
Since the Bruins press conference a few days ago, the two parties seem to still be in contact despite Cam Neely taking a shot at Swayman regarding an offer followed by Swayman's agent saying that a $64 million offer was never made.
Now, According to insider Elliotte Friedman, it appears Swayman is seeking a contract similar to the one fellow teammate Charlie McAvoy signed recently in the high $8 million low $9million ranger per season.
Friedman on 32TP says Swayman's original ask was McAvoy's contract, 8x9.5, he has come down a bit, he's at low 9's, high 8's, but Bruins are still at 8x8. Friedman doesn't believe at this point in time Swayman is going to take 8x8, so still a sizeable gap between the two camps.
While some fans believe this is outrageous for Swayman to ask since he has yet to play in a full season and believe that another team would not offer him this type of money while others believe he is worth every penny.
I don't see any other team offering him more than 8x8.

This almost feels like one of those times where teams need to collude against the player to ensure the market remains intact

It makes no sense to me why Swayman would be looking for an 8 year contract when everyone knows that the cap will be going up in leaps and bounds. 5 years x 8m would be more reasonable. In 5 years he could easily get over 10 million per
