Per NHL Insider and Sportsnet analyst Elliotte Freidman, The Bruins were on the hunt to try and land a big name at Centre, and it seemed that Pierre-Luc Dubois was the front runner to fill that role.
The B's were close on acquiring the 25-year-old but ultimately lost out to the Washington Capitals who sent over Goalie Darcy Kuemper for PLD in a one for one deal.
Dubois is coming off signing an 8-year $8.5 million dollar deal (AAV), but after an underperforming 1st season, the Kings clearly saw enough and instead of buying him out, they were able to add a very competent Goalie in Kuemper.
In 82 game last season for L.A, Dubois had career lows across the board, he tallied 16 goals and 24 assists for a total of 40 points and a +/- of -9.
As seen above, it probably was a positive that the Bruins didn't land PLD. He has a history of bad attitude and a lack of effort that really doesn't mesh with the Bruins style of hockey. He is a player that you never really know what you are going to get on a nightly basis.
