Linus Ullmark has released an emotional statement regarding his relationship with former teammate Jeremy Swayman and their famed 'goalie hug' celebration.
"The goalie hug that we had in Boston, that's for me and Sway only." - Ullmark
Many fans were wondering what will happen to the 'goalie hug' celebration now that Linus Ullmark is on a new team. He stated that the hug was just for him and Swayan, and that he will be retiring it for good.
He was asked about it by Ottawa Senators reports and stated that he had a special relationship with Swayman, and that out of his love and history with one another, he would feel right doing it with anyone else.
«I'm not going to bring it to Ottawa,» Ullmark acknowledged. «The goalie hug that we had in Boston, that's for me and Sway only — and that's out of respect for what we had and what we built through our years together and the respect and love and admiration that I have for him.
Ullmark didn't rule out making a new celebration or routine as these sort of things have been apart of hockey for a long time.
«There's certainly — I'm not gonna say we're gonna come up with something new or anything like that. There's always been the celebrations after winning games. So, we'll see what happens. Who knows? Maybe there'll be a dab or something. But I'm not gonna try too hard to come up with a new thing or something like that. I'm just gonna have to let it play out naturally.»
Jeremy Swayman broke his silence on the trade via instagram where he reposted Ullmarks post on his story and stated "Brother for life".
