The fate of Matt Grzelcyk's future representing the B's is looking grim. The latest reports coming from Athletics reporter Chris Johnston suggest that the Bruins won't be looking to re-sign the veteran defenceman this coming off season.
This comes as no real shock to Bruins fans as Grzelcyk's performance during the post season was poor, being a healthy scratch for a total of 10 post season games.
The 30-year-old blue liner didn't see any ice time against the Florida Panthers during their devastating second round exit in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.
In addition, Grzelcyk had a brutal regular season campaign, only posting two goals and nine assists in 63 games. Although his lacklustre season with the Bruins may indicate the end of the road in New England, he still poses lots of upside to his game and may be a candidate to prospecting teams looking to bolster their defence.
