Report: Bruins struggling to sign Jeremy Swayman as he holds all of the leverage
When photos and videos surfaced showing RFA Jeremy Swayman attending the Boston Bruins captain practice last Thursday, it gave many hope that the two parties are close to a deal, but this may not be the case.
With only a few weeks until the NHL season kicks off, the biggest question mark heading into this years offseason is still unanswered as GM Don Sweeney is taking a lot of heat, even though a lot of it is out of his control.
Swayman may have been at the captains practice, but for those who do not know, any player that has not signed cannot partake in any on-ice or off-ice activities at training camp. If that is the case, Joonas Korpisalo will be taking reps as the teams #1 goalie, where he achieved a less than stellar .890 save percentage last season with the Senators. Prospect Brandon Bussi will most likely be slotted in as the teams backup, but regardless of how highly touted he is, his zero NHL experience is concerning.
Swayman has been very transparent this offseason of where he stands with the Bruins and what he is asking for in terms of a deal, but at the captain's practice, he declined to comment or speak to reporters.
It was revealed by his agent that Sway is holding a lot of leverage with Linus Ullmark leaving the Bruins early in the offseason.
