When the Bruins needed a bottom 6 forward in order to bolster their toughness and grit, they traded for Patrick Maroon of the Minnesota Wild at last seasons trade deadline.
He appeared in all of the Bruins' playoff games where they suffered a second round exit to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions, the Florida Panthers. Maroon recording two assists and 18 penalty minutes over that span and even though his offense wasn't there, he provided physicality and Stanley Cup experience.
With him signing with the Chicago Blackhawks, the Bruins found themselves with a solid replacement in Max Jones. He plays a similar style of game to Maroon, never backs down to physical play but adds more offense and youth that could really benefit the B's.
In 52 games last season for the Anaheim Ducks, Jones scored 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points and racked up 33 penalty minutes. At just 26 years old, he could even have a break out year, he is still young enough that there is room to grow and a change of scenery could be all he needs to showcase what he has to offer.
