Ryan Johansen claims the Philadelphia Flyers are wrongfully terminating his contract and will challenge it
The Philadelphia Flyers have placed Ryan Johansen on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract, but claims they are doing so wrongfully based on the guidelines of the NHLPA.
Johansen's representatives have taken to social media in order to express their displeasure with the choices of the organization and that they will be taking all necessary steps to challenge and defend his rights due to wrongful termination.
Supposedly Johansen has been dealing with a major back injury that requires surgery and the team said there reason for termination was due to a "material breach" but did not go further into details of what that is or means.
Flyers GM, Daniel Briere did comment today but did not mention anything to do with why he was being let go.
Johansen, 32, was traded to the flyers at the deadline but did not appear in any games after he was sidelined with a hip injury.
