During the Toronto Maple Leafs' annual media day ahead of training camp, General Manager Brad Treliving delivered a significant update on defenseman Jake Muzzin.

Treliving confirmed that Muzzin would miss the entire upcoming season due to a cervical spine injury.

Muzzin, aged 34, hasn't played since October 17th, 2022. In the final year of his four-year, $22.5 million contract, the Maple Leafs will place his $5.625 million salary on LTIR.

If this signals the end of Muzzin's playing career, he leaves behind an impressive legacy of 683 games, 69 goals, and 294 points, including a Stanley Cup win with the LA Kings in 2014.
