Vancouver Canucks Winger Dakota Joshua revealed today that he is currently in recovery after removing a cancerous tumor over the summer and will miss the start of training camp while he heals.

Joshua announced that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and shared a heartfelt message to the Canucks fans via X (formally Twitter).

«The last several weeks have been extremely challenging and I've been fortunate to have the support of my family, friends, teammates and doctors,» he wrote.

He did reassure everyone that he is working as hard as he can and healing in order to return to the Canucks lineup as soon as possible and is looking forward to seeing all the fans again. He also stressed to every man out there to be safe and go get checked out because it can happen to anyone and the best way to recover is to detect it as early as possible.

«Although it was very difficult to face the reality of this specific type of cancer, getting checked by a doctor quickly was the best approach and I encourage men to get checked regularly for testicular cancer,» Joshua said.

Last season Joshua became a fan favorite with his physical style of play and leadership but also had a career year offensively. In 63 contests he scored 18 goals and 14 assists for 32 points and added 6p penalty minutes with a +/- rating of +19.

We wish him all the best in his recovery and hope to see him on the ice ASAP!
